The Bookmonger Presents: A Festive Candlelight Scottish Storytelling Musical Event

About the Evening:

Step inside The Bookmonger this festive season for a magical evening where the soft glow of faux candlelight, traditional Scottish folklore, and enchanting live music come together in perfect harmony.

Guests will be greeted with a welcome glass of Crémant Blanc de Blancs (or non-alcoholic alternative) and a signature festive Bookmonger cheeseboard to share, featuring a curated selection of artisan cheeses and accompaniments from our cheese bar. Additional wine, beer, and soft drinks will be available to purchase throughout the evening.

At 8 p.m., the lights will dim and the storytelling will begin. Katie Proven, Glasgow-based storyteller, will transport guests through centuries of Scottish folklore and festive legend, tales filled with wit, wonder, and the spirit of the season.

Katie will be joined by Seonaid Aitken, an award-winning violinist, vocalist, and BBC broadcaster from Fife. Known for her soulful performances and artistry inspired by jazz legend Stéphane Grappelli, Seonaid’s violin will weave through each story, creating an immersive soundscape that feels both timeless and alive.

Together, Katie and Seonaid will guide guests through a one-of-a-kind performance, a cosy, romantic evening that celebrates Scotland’s storytelling traditions through word and melody.

With just 18 tickets available, this intimate candlelight event is the perfect way to mark the start of the festive season. Doors open at 7:30pm, performance starts at 8pm.  This event is for adults only aged 18+. Seating is limited and we will try our best to seat you with your party, but it will be on a first come first serve basis.
