About the Author
Callum McSorley is a Glasgow-based writer whose work sits firmly within contemporary Scottish crime fiction. His debut novel, Squeaky Clean, a crime thriller inspired by his years working at a car wash in Glasgow’s East End, was published in 2023. With its release, Callum became the youngest-ever recipient of the prestigious McIlvanney Prize for Scottish Crime Book of the Year, and the novel received widespread critical acclaim from The Times, The Scotsman, The Wall Street Journal, and beyond.
His second novel, Paperboy, which was released earlier this year and named one of The Sunday Times Books of the Year for 2025.
About the Book — PaperboyÂ
Paperboy continues Callum McSorley’s sharp, compelling exploration of crime, power, and morality. Set within a vividly rendered Scottish landscape, the novel expands on the world introduced in Squeaky Clean while standing confidently on its own.
This evening offers readers a rare opportunity to engage with the novel at the moment of its paperback release, discussing its themes, its evolution as a sequel, and McSorley’s approach to contemporary crime fiction.
Also Featuring — Squeaky Clean
