Tom Newlands Returns to The Bookmonger
Celebrating his latest release, Something Like Happiness. And we're his one and only stop in Glasgow for his book launch!
Some authors mark a moment. Others become part of your story.
We’re incredibly proud to welcome Tom Newlands back to The Bookmonger, the very first author we ever hosted, and one who holds a truly special place in our journey.
After joining us for the paperback launch of Only Here Only Now last June, Tom returns with his highly anticipated new novel, Something Like Happiness, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate it together.
About the Book
Frazer and Caitlin have come a long way without ever leaving their dead-end town.
Once teenage sweethearts, life has since tightened its grip. The flat they share is barely habitable, money is tight, and their autistic son is struggling at school.
Caitlin dreams of fresh carpets and clean walls. For Frazer, Apex Court is the only home he has ever known, the place where his parents lived and died, and where their memory still lingers.
He’s asked Caitlin to marry him twice. She tries to leave most weeks.
They still love each other, but is it enough?
Startlingly original and deeply affecting, Something Like Happiness is a blistering and timely novel that confirms Tom Newlands as one of the brightest literary voices of his generation.
