Launch of our October Book of the Month
We're launching our October Beatson Book of the Month: Frequently Happy by David Larbi.
October Book of the Month: Frequently Happy by David Larbi
Frequently Happy is a Sunday Times bestseller from London-based poet and writer David Larbi. It's a collection of 52 mindful moments: poems, reflections and journal prompts that help readers find joy in everyday life, even through stress and hard times. Matt Haig described it as "filled with such personality and contagious optimism."
It's a book to keep by the bed, dip into once a week, or give to someone who could use a little light. With every copy sold, The Bookmonger makes a donation to the Beatson Cancer Charity.
About the Beatson Book of the Month programme: each month we choose one title to champion in store and online, and a donation from every copy sold goes to the Beatson Cancer Charity. Our goal is to raise £2,000 for the charity over the year.
About the Beatson Cancer Charity
The Beatson Cancer Charity supports patients, families and staff at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in Glasgow, and in cancer services across the West of Scotland. The charity funds the extras that make a real difference, from patient and family support services and wellbeing care to specialist staff, training and research. Its work goes beyond what the NHS alone can provide.
Ways to Get Involved
You don't have to wait for an event to support the Beatson. Here are some of the ways to get involved:
- Volunteer: the charity relies on volunteers across its services, charity shops and fundraising events. Roles range from a few hours a month to regular weekly commitments.
- Bucket collections: join a collection team at supermarkets, sporting fixtures, concerts and community events across the West of Scotland.
- Take on a challenge or event: sign up for a run, walk or one of the charity's own fundraising events, or set your own challenge.
- Fundraise your way: organise something at school, at work, or with your club, church or community group. The charity can provide fundraising packs and support.
- Donate: make a one-off gift or set up a regular donation. Donations can also be made in store on the day.
- Shop the Book of the Month: every copy of our monthly pick sold in store or online supports the charity.
