The Bookmonger Diaries Back-to-School YA Book Club · Ages 12–16
Class is back in session… and someone is picking off the senior year, one by one.
The Bookmonger Diaries is kicking off the new school year the only way we know how, Â with a scream. Join us for a deliciously spooky evening with author Scarlett Dunmore, celebrating her fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek YA horror book How to Survive a Horror Movie.
🔄 The tables are turned!
You might remember Shelly Mack as our featured author at our last Bookmonger Diaries book club, when we all stepped into the world of Landis. This time, the tables are turned, Shelly swaps her author's chair for the interviewer's seat and puts the questions to Scarlett Dunmore. From featured author to host: it's a full-circle Bookmonger moment.
About How to Survive a Horror Movie
Horror-movie enthusiast Charley just wants to keep a low profile at her remote island boarding school. Then someone starts killing off her senior class, elaborate scares, severed heads in the fridge, the works, and Charley finds herself trapped at the centre of a real-life teen horror movie. Worse still? She's now seeing the ghosts of her murdered classmates.
Haunted by her peers and suspected by everyone, Charley and her best friend Olive set out to solve the murders before graduation… if only those pesky ghosts would quiet down and lend a hand.
Perfect for fans of Fear Street, The Midnight Club, and the SCREAM franchise.
📖 …and there's a sequel!
While we won't be diving into it in detail on the night, How to Survive a Horror Movie: The Sequel carries the scares on where book one leaves off. Want the whole story? You can grab both, preorder the sequel with your ticket (see options below), or pick up a copy on the night (while supplies last).
